Zak Downes Earns SSC Player of the Week Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa's Zak Downes has been named Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week presented by VALIC.
Downes, a freshman goalkeeper from Dallas, Texas proved formidable this week as he held West Florida and No. 21 West Alabama scoreless in 180 minutes of play. He recorded seven saves against West Florida and four against West Alabama. Tampa won both games 2-0 and are now 4-1-1 on the season. Downes now has four shutouts on the season.
