Spartans Travel to Tusculum Sunday for Quarterfinal Match
TAMPA, Fla. - For the first time since capturing the national championship in 2001, the University of Tampa Spartans are one win away from reaching the NCAA II soccer semifinals. After defeating #1 Lynn in the South Region final this past weekend, UT (17-3-1) will face another significant test on its run to a fourth national title.
The Spartans will challenge fifth-ranked Tusculum College on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Niswonger Sports Complex and Pioneer Field in Greeneville, Tenn. The Pioneers (20-2-1) earned a berth into the quarterfinals by virtue of a 2-0 victory over Lees-McRae College in the Southeast Region final.
The meeting on Sunday will mark the first time the Spartans have battled Tusculum in soccer.
The winner will advance to the NCAA II Soccer Championships to be held at UT's Pepin Stadium on Dec.4-6. An appearance in the NCAA II Final Four would be Tampa's seventh in program history.
