Westin Schmidt Earns SSC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

TAMPA, Fla. - Westin Schmidt is named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Schmidt played a pivotal defensive role, leading Tampa to victories over Florida Tech and No. 13 Newberry College during the opening weekend, recording 23 saves across the two games. Against Florida Tech, Schmidt made 13 saves on 19 shots faced and added three groundballs. He followed that with a strong showing against ranked Newberry, posting 10 saves on 22 shots, along with four groundballs and two caused turnovers.
