Tampa Lacrosse Doubles Down as Hunter Turner and Dani Waters earn SSC Player of the Week Honors

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Dani Waters wins SSC Defensive Player of the Week for the 2nd consecutive week. Hunter Turner notches his first SSC Player of the Week accolade this season.

Turner is awarded Specialist of the Week for his performance in the X during Tampa's neutral site win against No. 15 Frostburg State. The Tampa native won 13 of 18 faceoffs and tallied six ground balls in the win. Tampa defeated Frostburg State 16-6 in Cornelius, North Carolina.

Waters receives Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time in 2022 by averaging over three caused turnovers per game across three contests. The senior from Smithtown, New York, tallied three caused turnovers and a ground ball in an 11-10 Tampa loss to No. 12 Regis. She followed with four caused turnovers and three ground balls in a 22-10 win over Cabrini. Lastly, she totaled three caused turnovers and a ground ball in a 10-9 loss to No. 3 Queens in Charlotte.

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 28 - March 6, 2022. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
