Blake Ulmer Leads No.2 Tampa Past Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 3 ranked University of Tampa Spartans men's lacrosse toppled the No. 20 ranked Florida Southern Moccasins 16-5 in this ranked matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

FIRST QUARTER

Things would be even between the two ranked teams as they played evenly up until the 11 minute mark, where Patrick Dooley would get things started for the Spartans as they would strike first. Blake Ulmer would be the highlight of the first quarter, saving all 10 of Florida Southern's shots on goal. The Spartans would get on the board two more times before the end of the half, both coming from Colin White for his 2nd and 3rd goal of the season. Score: 3-0 Tampa

SECOND QUARTER

The second quarter would be all Tampa, as the Spartans would control the tempo of the game despite the Moccasins tacking on two to the scoreboard. The Spartans would continue to dominate the quarter, with Luke McAnaney putting one away with an elevator shot into the top right corner with 4 minutes left in the half as Tampa would lead by 5. Nick Papa would end the half with a goal to his name as time expired. Score: 9-2 Tampa

THIRD QUARTER

Tampa would start the second half like they never stopped, Ronan Sanchez would continue the success that the Spartans had in the first half, as the Spartans would strike first in the second half. Tampas' dominant performance would continue despite the loss in face offs from the Spartans. As the Spartans would score three more in a two minute span to end the 3rd quarter. Score: 14-2 Tampa

FOURTH QUARTER

Florida Southern would take control of the 4th and final quarter, however. Nearly nothing would be enough for the Moccasins to make a comeback on the Spartans. As Florida Southern would control the quarter with ground balls and faceoffs, they would outscore the Spartans 3-2 to end the game. Score: 16-5 Tampa

INSIDE THE STATS:

• Ulmer would destroy his career high in saves with 29 shots saved

• Sanchez and Colin White would both record hat tricks

• UT would finish with 9 separate players on the goal sheet

• Harry Kilkowski would log a game high 5 assists
