Spartans Sweep SSC Player of the Week Awards
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Sean Giampietro (So., Garnet
Valley, Pa.) of the University of Tampa is the SSC Men's Lacrosse
Offensive Player of the Week. A.J. Arnold (So., Southborough,
Mass.), also of the University of Tampa, is named the SSC Men's
Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
Giampietro and Arnold were selected SSC Athletes of the Week from a
pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February
23 to March 1.
Tampa got off to a 1-0 start in the SSC with the help of
Giampietro's offense. In the SSC opening game against Rollins, the
sophomore midfielder had three goals on three shots. His three
goals helped the Spartans defeat the Tars at home, 11-5.
In his first career start, Arnold gave up five goals on 25 total
shots. The sophomore goalkeeper delivered eight saves, tallying a
0.615 save percentage.
With the help of Giampietro and Arnold, the Spartans were able to
go to 3-1 (1-0) on the year after the win in the rain against the
Tars. They will now prepare to help Tampa continue their conference
success this Saturday when they travel to Florida Southern.
