DADE CITY, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's golf team brought the 2025‑26 season to a close with an eighth‑place finish (+19) at the Sunshine State Conference Championship, held April 20–21 at Lake Jovita Golf Course. Tampa surged through the first two rounds, sitting as the runner-up heading into Tuesday's final round.
The Spartans posted a three‑round total of 883 (293–290–300) on the 7,054‑yard, par‑72 layout, competing against one of the strongest leagues in NCAA Division II. Tampa finished behind nationally ranked Florida Southern (#3), Barry (#17), Rollins (#27), Saint Leo (#14), and Nova Southeastern (#15), while narrowly trailing Palm Beach Atlantic (#36) and finishing ahead of Eckerd (#48) and Embry‑Riddle (FL) in the final standings.
Gustin Closes Strong to Lead Spartans
Carl Gustin delivered Tampa's top individual performance, finishing T‑13 at +2 (77–73–68). Gustin's final‑round 68 was the lowest round posted by a Spartan during the championship and one of the lowest scores recorded across the final day.
Balanced Contributions Across the Lineup
Linus Landahl and Martin Hurtado each logged top‑25 finishes, helping Tampa remain competitive throughout the three‑round championship. Landahl turned in rounds of 72–72–77 to finish T‑17 (+5), while Hurtado finished T‑21 (+6) after a consistent performance across all three rounds.
