UT Returns Home After Competing In Caribbean Classic
PONCE, P.R. - The University of Tampa men's golf team played to a seventh place finish at the Caribbean Intercollegiate Classic, which was hosted by St. John's University. The event was played at the Costa Caribe Resort in Ponce.
UT finished with an 884, or +20, to find itself in a tie for seventh place with the University of Connecticut. South Carolina-Upstate won the event with an 847. Tampa's best round was a 285 in the final day.
Taylor Noel finished in a tie for 28th place with a 221(+5). He also registered UT's top round while shooting a 69 in Monday's opening round. Kris Shane and Nicolas Jutigny followed Noel with scores of 222 and 223 respectively.
Charlie Green and Kyle Roy rounded out the Spartan top five as the Syracuse, N.Y., duo each shot a 224 to finish in a two-way tie for 35th place. Quin Trigg also competed for head coach Rick Christie's team, shooting a 228.
The Spartans will return home prior to leaving for Muscle Shoals, Ala., for the annual North Alabama Invitational. The event is scheduled for March 28-29.
