Tampa Wins Webber Invitational, Claims Second Title Of Season
LAKE WALES, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team won its second tournament of the 2010-11 season, placing first among five teams at the Start 2 Finish Webber Classic at Lake Wales Country Club.
The Spartans finished played with a third round score of 295 after shooting a 310 and 303 in Sunday's rounds. UT finished at 908 (+56), ahead of Webber International (919), Faulkner (921), Warner (934) and Mobile (941).
A pair of Europeans were Tampa's top scorers as Mark Cleary and Nicolas Jutigny finished in a third place tie with a 224 (+11). Jutigny had the top round of any golfer at the event with a second round score of 70, while Cleary's top round was a 71 to lead all participants in Monday's round.
Brixton Albert and Taylor Noel made it four Spartans in the top-10 as Albert was sixth with a 228 (+15). Noel shot a 229 (+16), which was good for a 10th place tie.
Also golfing for head coach Rick Christie's squad were Kevin Genuardi (230), Kris Shane (231), Parker Wingfield (231), Charlie Green (240), Jared Pane (240), Steven Embree (242) and Kyle Roy (246).
Tampa is back in action on Monday, Feb. 28 at the West Florida Invitational in Pensacola, Fla.
