Nicolas Jutigny Leads Spartan Effort At Saint Leo Invitational
ST. LEO, Fla. - Nicolas Jutigny advanced to a playoff for the individual title at the annual Saint Leo Invitational, nearly medaling the tournament for the second consecutive season. The University of Tampa finished play fourth overall at Lake Jovita Golf Course.
After posting a first-round score of 70, Jutigny concluded play with a 72 on Monday. He finished at 142 (-2) and a first-place tie with Webber International's Jens Johansson. The individual champion was determined by a playoff that consisted of two holes (18, 1) as Johansson claimed the title.
UT shot respective rounds of 298 and 300 as it finished at 598. Webber International fired a 575 to win the tournament, followed by Saint Leo (595) and Johnson & Wales (597). Southeastern was fifth with 600 total strokes.
Parker Wingfield enjoyed a solid tournament for Tampa, following Jutigny among Spartans on the leaderboard with a 12th place showing. Wingfield had a 74 and 75, finishing at 149. Brixton Albert and Taylor Noel tied for 17th as each shot a 150 while Quin Trigg rounded out the top-20 with a 151.
Also competing for head coach Rick Christie's Spartans were Jared Pane (154), Kyle Roy (156), Kris Shane (158), Charlie Green (161) and Mark Cleary (162).
The Spartans conclude fall competition at the Rollins Invitational, which begins on Sunday in Ocoee, Fla. Following the first day of qualifying, championship play will be on Monday and Tuesday.
