HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Tampa came out sharp offensively and set the tone early, shooting efficiently from the perimeter and pushing the pace in transition. Trey Lane knocked down multiple threes to spark the Spartans, while Ryan Blount attacked the glass and converted second-chance opportunities.
Justin Taylor provided a boost off the bench with timely three-pointers as Tampa built a lead midway through the half. The Spartans shot 7-of-17 from beyond the arc in the opening period and used fast-break chances to stay in control.
Rollins responded late in the half behind strong interior play and trips to the free-throw line, trimming the deficit before the break. Tampa carried a narrow 33–32 advantage into halftime after holding the Tars to just two made threes in the opening 20 minutes.
Second Half
The Spartans opened the second half with confidence, as Blount buried a transition three and followed with a putback to extend Tampa's lead. Lane continued his hot shooting, drilling another triple to keep the Spartans in front.
Rollins gradually seized momentum by attacking the paint and capitalizing at the free-throw line. Scoring inside and drawing fouls, Rollins put together a decisive run to take the lead midway through the half.
Tampa stayed within striking distance behind Blount's all-around effort and Lane's perimeter shooting, but Rollins' ability to convert from the line proved pivotal. The Tars went 28-of-32 at the stripe and outscored Tampa 52–45 in the second half to secure the win.
