Davis and McCrory Ink Professional Deals
TAMPA, Fla.- Former University of Tampa men's basketball players Jordan Davis and Eugene McCrory have signed professional contracts for one year with C.D Castro out of Chile.
This will be the third time that the duo will be teammates, as they both played for the College of Central Florida, and both spent their senior campaigns here at Tampa.
At CCF, the two led the Patriots to an NJCAA National Championship. At Tampa, the two paced Tampa to a third-place finish in the Sunshine State Conference with a 10-6 conference record, and finished the year at 18-10.
During his two seasons at Tampa, Davis made a huge impact in the Spartan history books. He ranks first in minutes per game with 36.3, ranks second in free throw percentage with an 84.4 percent mark, ranks second in assists average with 6.8 assists per game and fifth in defensive rebound average with 5.6 per game. Davis also recorded the first triple-double in school history on December 21, 2014, as he racked up 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Cedarville University.
"I feel very grateful for this opportunity, and I will try and make the best of this chance to continue to play basketball professionally," said Davis, "To play with Eugene for the third time is pretty funny and ironic, but I am excited and very lucky to have the opportunity to play with someone as talented as Eugene."
Although McCrory only spent one season at Tampa, his impact was immediately felt. During the season, he averaged 17 points per game, to go along with 9.4 rebounds. He has also cemented his place in Tampa history, as he ranks second all-time with a 69.5 percent field goal percentage. He also holds two single season records, as he collected 122 offensive rebounds, and averaged 4.5 offensive rebounds per game.
"It's a dream come true, becoming a pro was a dream I had ever since I knew I was good at basketball," said McCrory, "To play with my best friend again is a nightmare for the other teams because we have the chemistry, and the guts. Plus we already know what it takes to become a champion."
Davis and McCrory leave for Chile on September 15th for training camp, and the season starts on October 2nd.
