Spartans Give Pirates the Boot
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The University of Tampa (4-1) men's basketball team defeated Armstrong Atlantic State University (3-3) 60-47 in game one of the Eckerd College Thanksgiving Classic.
The Spartans dominated the first half, shooting 50 percent from the field, and outscoring the Pirates in points off of turnovers. UT held their opponents to shooting 21 percent from the field. Jordan Davis and Da'Markco Foster had 11 points apiece at the end of the first period.
Despite being outrebounded in the second half, Tampa continued its dominance by converting at the free throw line and not letting Armstrong get within a single digit of their lead.
Foster finished the game with 23 points, while Davis finished with 13 points and eight assists. Vincent Cornu recorded 12 points.
UT will take on Puerto Rico-Bayamon tomorrow evening in game two of the tournament. The Spartans lead the all-time series 11-0.
