Spartans Register Second Straight Blowout Victory
TAMPA, Fla. - After winning by 54 points in Tuesday night's season opener, The University of Tampa men's basketball team recorded a 92-49 victory over Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras. The Spartans improve to 2-0 on the year as UPRRP drops to 0-3.
In a game where UT held control for the entire contest, the Spartans led by as many as 43 points as a total of nine players scored for Tampa. UT held a commanding 55-23 halftime lead and outscored its opponent 37-26 in the second half.
Fred Woods led Tampa with 29 points in just 27 minutes of play. He also led Tampa with 13 rebounds, 11 coming on the offensive end. His stellar performance also included four blocks and three steals.
Johnathan Ball chipped in 18 points while Anthony LaBruno had 12. Freshman Marcus Morrison added 11 points and nine rebounds off the Spartan bench. LaBruno also led the team with five assists as Rudy Jean tallied a team-high four steals.
