Jeremy Black Named Daktronics South Region Co-Player of the Year
CARROLLTON, Ga. - Jeremy Black was honored as the Daktronics South Region Co-Player of the year, joining Jonny Reibel from fellow Sunshine State Conference school Rollins as the headliners of the all-region team.
As the top vote getters in balloting conducted among the region's sports information directors, Black and Reibel share the distinction
of being South Region Co-Players of the Year.
Joining this impressive duo on the first team were three other outstanding players. Matt Hall of Harding, Casey Holt of North Alabama, and Carl McNally of Florida Tech round out an impressive All-South Region First Team.
Black was the 2008 Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year. A 6-8 senior and hometown product, Black led his team to the conference regular season crown, and heads into this weekend's NCAA Division II Tournament with averages of 18.5 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.
Black, Hall and Holt will all be playing this weekend in the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament in Lakeland, Fla. Also, all five have earned berths on the national ballot for spots on the Daktronics Division II All-America Team.
Six players earned berths on the all-region second team. One is a holdover from last year: forward Kevin Weybright of Gulf South
Conference Champion Christian Brothers. The other five players are all from Sunshine State Conference schools. They include Rob Eldridge of league champion Florida Southern, Damone Morris of Eckerd, Nova Southeastern's Tim Coenraad, Jordan Parris of Saint Leo and Justin Sedlak of Florida Tech.
