West Palm Beach, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team opened the 2006-07 season with a 73-69 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic, marking the ninth consecutive Spartan win on opening day and its second over the Sailfish. The Spartans are now 1-0 on the season.
The frontcourt duo of Chris Evans and Jeremy Black accounted for 39 of Tampa's points, with Evans scoring 20 and Black 19. Evans picked up a double-double as he also had 10 rebounds while Black had seven boards. Johnathan Ball, making his first career start, scored 16 as the Spartans held on to a 31-30 halftime lead to record the four point victory.
