Tampa Gets Revenge on Saint Leo
SAINT LEO, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team evened the season series with Saint Leo with a 68-55 victory over the Lions. The Spartans improve to 12-10 with the victory and are now 4-6 in the Sunshine State Conference. Saint Leo drops to 10-10 and 4-6 in league games.
After trailing for just over the first five minutes, Tampa took its first lead of the game at the 14:43 mark of the first half and never trailed again.
The Spartans led by four at halftime and allowed Saint Leo to get within one point with 12:11 remaining in the contest. UT then went on a 14-1 run over the next seven minutes to put the game within reach.
Jeremy Black dominated the paint, scoring a team-high 24 points with 14 rebounds, also tops on the team. Chris Evans joined Black in double figures with 12 points for the Spartans.
The Spartans will now focus on their third and final game of the week, a Saturday meeting with Barry. The game is scheduled for 4:00 pm at the Bob Martinez Sports Center.
