No. 5 Tampa Sweeps No. 10 Rollins to Strengthen SSC Lead
WINTER PARK, Fla. — The No. 5 University of Tampa baseball team swept a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader against No. 10 Rollins on Saturday at Alfond Stadium, earning victories of 6–1 and 4–2 to conclude the series.
With the sweep, the Spartans improved to 33–7 overall and 19–2 in SSC play, solidifying their position atop the conference standings while taking the series from a nationally ranked NCAA South Region opponent.
Game 1: Tampa 6, Rollins 1
Tampa used timely hitting and another strong start on the mound to control the opener from start to finish.
The Spartans broke through in the fifth inning when Jack Martinez lined a two‑run single up the middle. Tampa added to the lead moments later on an RBI double by Jake Books, building a 3–0 advantage.
In the sixth, Walker Vanecek delivered the decisive blow, blasting a two‑run home run to left field to stretch the margin to five runs. Tampa added insurance in the ninth when Jhoander Irigoyen singled home Jake Books.
On the mound, B.J. Bailey continued his dominant season, going the distance for his second complete game of the year. Bailey allowed just four hits and one run, walking one and striking out six, improving to 10–0 on the season.

The finale required late execution, as Tampa once again proved resilient in a close game.
The Spartans jumped out early when Brayden Woodburn launched a two‑run home run in the first inning. Tampa added another run in the third when Woodburn singled home Jordan Evans, making it 3–0.
Rollins chipped away with a run in the fifth and again in the ninth, but Tampa added a crucial insurance run in the top of the ninth when Nik Pereira was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run.
John Luke Glanton delivered another strong outing, working eight innings and allowing two runs on seven hits, while striking out three. Luke Fikar entered in the ninth and recorded the final outs to earn his fifth save of the season.
