TAMPA, Fla. – The top ranked University of Tampa Spartans baseball team took on the #28 Florida Tech Panthers in an afternoon doubleheader, winning both games to sweep the season series.

HOW IT HAPPENED — GAME ONE:
- The first four innings of the game were quiet, as neither team scored until Tampa in the bottom of the fifth.
- J.D. Urso then doubled to right field to score Nick Derr and open the game. | Tampa 1-0
- Jose Cadenas grounded out on the sacrifice bunt to score Urso. | 2-0 Tampa
- The only other scoring came in the bottom of the eighth inning, and all runs scored were from Tampa: Dan Sullivan with a sac-fly to score Carlos Salaverria (3-0); Luke Glancy with a three RBI homer to extend the lead, scored Derr and Sam Freitas (6-0); and a Drew Ehrhard single brought home Mikey Navarrete (7-0). | 7-0 Tampa

- Neither team could muster much offense in what turned out to be a pitcher's duel for much of the game. E.J. Cumbo scored the games only run in the bottom of the sixth, a solo shot to right field. | Tampa 1-0
INSIDE THE STATS — GAME ONE:
- Luke Glancy pinch hit and clobbered a three RBI homer in his only plate appearance.
- UT batters struck out just three times.
- Braydon Nelson earned his second win of the year, pitching seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts.
- Jordan Leasure earned his first save of the year, pitching two scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
- Five Spartans recorded RBIs: Glancy (3), Jose Cadenas (1), Drew Ehrhard (1), Dan Sullivan (1), and J.D. Urso (1).
INSIDE THE STATS — GAME TWO:
- E.J. Cumbo's solo shot was all Tampa needed to take home the win, as the sophomore blasted a solo shot deep into right field in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- Eric Linder earned his second win of the year, striking out three in the process.
- Nik Constantakos earned his first save of the year, pitching the final frame and striking out three while not allowing a hit.
