Keaton Aldridge Signs With New York Mets
NEW YORK - University of Tampa catcher Keaton Aldridge has agreed to a contract with the New York Mets. Aldridge becomes the sixth player from the 2015 NCAA Division II national champions to sign a deal with a Major League Baseball (MLB) organization.
Aldridge, a senior catcher from Birmingham, Mich., concluded his eligibility with the Spartans after playing three seasons at the University of Memphis. A 2011 MLB Draft pick by the Milwaukee Brewers, Aldridge was also a Cape Cod League all-star in 2014.
He played in 19 games for Tampa this season, hitting .400 with one home run and eight RBI. While starting 15 games, he posted a .431 on-base percentage with three sacrifice flies.
