Nick Flair Named SSC Player of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Nick Flair (Jr. Belle Chasse, La.) of the University of Tampa is the SSC Baseball Player of the Week. Scotty Ward (Sr., Port Orange, Fla.) of the Florida Institute of Technology is named the SSC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Flair and Ward were selected SSC Athletes of the Week from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of March 9-15.
Flair's work at the plate was a big reason why Tampa was able to average 11.4 runs per game last week. In the three game series against the Moccasins, Flair went 7-of-14, drove in 10 runs, scored six runs, and hit four home runs.
During a 11-5 win in the final game of the series, Flair went 3-for-5 with six runs batted in, three runs scored, and two home runs.
In Tampa's five games this week, Flair went 8-for-18 with 12 runs batted in, four home runs, and had a 1.222 slugging percentage. With Flair's presence at the plate, No. 1 Tampa moved to 19-5 on the year.
