Tampa Baseball Team Helps Furnish Home of Local Family
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team helped two local families as it packed and delivered goods to their home on Tuesday.
"This was an eye-opening experience for our team," says head coach Joe Urso. "To go into these homes that had absolutely nothing and fully furnish them and give the kids a crib to sleep in, it was something extremely special. This experience was extraordinary to know that we helped other people, especially during the holidays."
The team partnered with Tampa Home Makers to unload and furnish the family home. It consisted of fully furnishing two homes that was previously empty. The members put together cribs, beds, dressers and other accessories.
"It was a tremendous feeling helping the two families out," says senior first baseman Heath Pritchard. "The first house had two bedrooms and six people with no furniture at all. The second house was the same with a single mother and two infants. It opens your eyes to see how some families are living. We literally walked into an empty home and walked out of a fully furnished residence. The feeling was unbelieveable knowing that we gave a family something so special. You can't help but smile after seeing the reaction of the children loving their new beds."
