Schwartz Picks Up Conference Honor
ORLANDO, Fla. - For the third time this season, senior slugger Mike Schwartz has been named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week for the period ending April 25, the league office announced today. The Tampa designated hitter was impressive at the plate as helped guide the Spartans to a sweep over Florida Southern and a 13th SSC championship this past weekend.
Schwartz batted .750 during the series with seven runs and two RBI. He hit safely in each of the three games and tallied a double and a home run. Posting a 1.250 slugging percentage, he successfully reached base 13 times en route to a .867 OBP.
The Montville, N.J. native further etched his name into the UT record books in the Friday night contest when he was hit by a pitch on three occasions.
