MIAMI, Fla. - The University of Tampa beach volleyball team finished their weekend at the Florida International Beach Bash Tournament by splitting their competition, beating San Diego City College and dropping their contest to #14 Florida International.

DUAL 1:

The Spartans got the day off to a great start, easily handling SDCC. The team of Selina Pfuner and Claire Overton got the competition started in the five spot, and the rest of the Spartans followed suit. Erica Haslag and Tatiana Gutierrez remained undefeated through the day, continuing their spotless record on the season.

DUAL 2:

The Spartans would have a tougher evening as the #14 ranked FIU took Tampa down in three of four matches. The sole win came from the previously mentioned team of Haslag and Gutierrez, as they beat  Florida International's Nina Petranovic and Ashley Klassen in three sets. The team of Bri Civiero and Valerie Rosequist would be unable to finish their match, as lighting became an issue late in the day.

UP NEXT: Tampa will be back in action this coming weekend as they will travel just a short distance, to St. Petersburg, to compete in the Eckerd College Battle on the Bay. UT will play four games on the weekend, including Palm Beach Atlantic and Eckerd College on Friday, and then facing off against Florida Atlantic and Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday.
