TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's soccer team will tackle Eckerd College on Wednesday night for the Spartans home opener of the 2017 campaign. The Spartans have only played two matches so far this season and come into the game at 1-1-0 after having the last two scheduled games canceled due to weather. The Tritons come into the game at 2-1-0 having lost their season opener before winning the last two games.

About the Spartans: Tampa comes into the match averaging two goals per game as four different players have been on the scoresheet. Zack Soufl, Lewis Sugden, and Ramzi Toure have each added an assist this season. The team opened the season with a come from behind victory at West Florida 3-1 before dropping a tough game at Spring Hill. Senior goalkeeper Richard Trench has started and played every minute this season for UT and has recorded six saves in two games.
About the Tritons: Offensively, the Tritons have five different players that have recorded at least one goal. Junior Robert Labus leads the team in goals with four in three games played while Niklas Sommerer and Matheus Assumpcao each have two assists. As a team, they have recorded 64 shots and scored eight goals. In net for Eckerd, senior Alex Gott has played a majority of the minutes and has given up two goals in three games. The 'keeper has faced 34 shots and has recorded 10 saves.
Series History: Tampa holds a 34-10-0 edge all-time over the Tritons. UT has won six of the last 10.
