TAMPA, Fla. - Three University of Tampa Spartans were named to the USILA/Nike South Senior All-Star Team roster. Sunshine State Conference player of the year Conor Whipple who ended the season leading the Spartans with 99 points, including 39 goals and 60 assists. Jake Schmidt, an attackman who registered 15 goals and one assist on the season. Also Marty Heyn, an All SSC First Team selection, who picked up 39 ground balls and caused 30 opponent turnovers.
These three Spartans become the first University of Tampa representatives to appear in the All-Star game since Greg Griffo participated in 2013.
The 76th annual USILA/Nike North-South Senior All-Star games will be played at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on the campus of Providence College on Friday May 26. The game times are 3:00 p.m. for the Division III game and 5:30 p.m. for the Division I-II game.
This is one of the most storied traditions in college lacrosse in which the highest caliber seniors from the across the country are showcased on the same field.
The North-South game kicks off a Memorial Day weekend filled with lacrosse in New England as the 2017 Lacrosse Semi-finals and Championships will be held 25 miles north of Providence at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA.
