HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | The Chargers were on the board first after knocking down a deep three pointer. Senior Duke Shelton retaliated on a jump shot that would be the first of many for the Ocala native. Nikola Marijan made his presence known after making a decisive dunk, assisted by Freddy Ibrahim. The Chargers did not back down as they recaptured the lead after a pair of jump shots. The Spartans remained scoreless for a minute until Anthony Gamble recorded his first points on a jumper. UT came within one point of the Chargers before UAH went on an offensive run. Heading into half time the Chargers had the lead over the Spartans 43-34.
2nd Half | Pat Bacon started the second half off on a layup assisted by Ibrahim. The Spartans scored again after Marijan hit a jumper. Both teams remained scoreless for nearly two minutes until Shelton stopped the drought on a layup. After being fouled, Shelton went to the line making both of his free throws. With 13 minutes left in the second half Shelton came down with a momentum changing dunk assisted by Ibrahim. The Chargers held on to their lead until Gamble made a three point jump shot that tied the game 76-76 with just under five minutes left in the half. The Spartans then took the lead after another three pointer from Gamble assisted by Bacon. UAH managed to tie the game up and the teams went into to overtime, 86-86.
