Swimming to Host SCAD on Friday

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams will be at home on Friday for a matchup with visiting Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD).

The Matchup: Tampa vs. SCAD

Date/Time: Friday, October 20 at 4 p.m.

Last Time Out (Men): Tampa opened its 2017-18 season with a lopsided 179-75 victory over visiting Rollins College on Saturday at home.

Last Time Out (Women): Tampa opened its 2017-18 season with an easy victory over visiting Rollins College, winning 183-62 on Saturday.

About the Spartan Men: The Spartans are ranked No. 10 in the preseason CSCAA poll. Against Rollins, Brett Saunders led the way, winning the 100 Back (55.57), 200 Back (1:57.33) and 200 IM (1:56.65). He was also part of a winning 200 Medley Relay team. Nick Tinucci, Marc Caron and Stefano Vrolijk each won a pair of races for the Spartans.

About the Spartan Women: Tampa is ranked No. 14 in the CSCAA preseason poll. Senior Sophie Long won a pair of races in the the 100 Free (53.24) and 200 IM (2:11.44). Her 200 Medley Relay team also took first to begin the meet. Gabbie Gaunt won the 200 Free and the 500 Free. Victoria Horsman also took a pair of races in the 200 Fly and 100 Fly.

About the Bees: Friday's meet represents the season opener for SCAD, who is a member of the NAIA. The two teams competed last season in Savannah, with both Spartan teams registering the victory.

Series History: The two SSC schools last met on November 12, 2016, in Winter Park. The Spartan men turned in a 176-74 victory while the women won by a score of 166-84.
