MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Still alive in the 2009 NCAA Tournament, University of Tampa men’s soccer placed seven on the Daktronics All-South Region teams released on Tuesday, including five on the first-team.
Defender Dan Ingvarsson was named to the first team along with midfielder Lister Warren, and forwards Pascal Milien and Greg O'Connor. The first team goalkeeper honors were awarded to Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Tampa’s Ryan Thompson.
Placed on the second-team were senior defender Kyle Williams and sophomore midfielder Ryan Griffin. The SSC was well represented on the All-South Region team, taking all thirteen places on the first team.
Thus far in the season, Thompson has allowed just 16 goals in 18 contests to go along with four shutouts. Milien leads the Spartans with 12 goals on the season and seven assists.
The Spartans, now 17-2-1 on the season, continue their season this Saturday in the NCAA Quarterfinals against Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C. The winner of Saturday’s contest will advance to the NCAA semifinals held this year in Tampa.
