Tampa Set to Entertain Palm Beach Atlantic

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men’s basketball team will be back in action on Saturday at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center against Palm Beach Atlantic University at 4 p.m.

The matchup between NCAA South Region schools features the 2-1 Spartans and 1-2 Sailfish. UT is coming off its first loss of the season, a 65-60 setback against Clayton State University after opening with wins over Southeasterm (Fla.) and American International. This will marks Tampa’s fourth consecutive home game to open the season.

The Spartans are led by senior Da’Markco Foster, who is averaging a team-high 18.7 points per game. Junior point guard Jordan Davis joins Foster in double figures at 12.3 points per game as he also leads the team with 24 assists, 5.7 rebounds per game and seven steals.

Palm Beach Atlantic is coming off a 75-69 loss to Florida Tech. The Sailfish notched their lone victory in a 75-65 triumph on Nov. 16 against Northwood. PBA also carries a 22-point loss to Rollins in its season opener.

The Sailfish have four players in double figures, led by Clayton Williams and Marcus Hardy (11.7). Garet Tucker (11.3) and Evin Graham (10.3) are also averaging double digits. Graham also leads PBA in rebounding at 7.0 per contest and assists with 14.

Tampa leads the all-time series with a 16-1 tally. The teams met twice last season, with the Spartans coming away with a pair of double figure victories. The Sailfish picked up their lone victory over UT on January 21, 2012, in a 68-55 victory in Tampa.

Tickets are available at the gate for $5. Children 12-and-under will be admitted free. UT faculty, staff and students are admitted free when displaying a valid Spartan ID card.
