WINTER PARK, Fla. – Tampa's Meagan Burke and Jessica Wagner have been selected Sunshine State Conference Volleyball Players of the Week presented by VALIC.
Burke, a junior middle blocker from Jacksonville, Fla., led the No. 2 Spartans to a 3-0 week to remain undefeated in SSC play at 10-0. Burke hit over .400 in two of three matches, including a hitting percentage of .636 against Flagler to begin the week and then .467 against Barry to end the week. Against Florida Tech, She recorded six total blocks with five block assists to give her a total of 10 blocks on the week.
Wagner, a sophomore middle blocker from Cape Coral, Fla., finished the week with 19 total blocks to average an impressive 2.11 blocks per set. She recorded more than half of the No. 2 Spartans' 33 blocks on the week. Wagner recorded eight blocks against Barry, seven against Flagler and four against Florida Tech. While dominating on the defensive side, Wagner still held a .312 hitting percentage with 15 kills.
