Tampa Moves Up Eight Spots Heading into Final Stretch of Regular Season

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The University of Tampa women’s soccer team is now ranked No. 16 in the current National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top-25 poll after being No. 24 in last week’s edition.

Tampa is one of two Sunshine State Conference schools represented in the poll as conference co-leader Rollins is No. 24. Fellow NCAA South Region foes West Florida (4) is also ranked.

The Spartans are coming off a week where they tied Rollins and defeated NCAA South Region opponent Palm Beach Atlantic by a 2-0 score.

As a team, the Spartans rank fifth in the nation in scoring offense (3.27) and 25th in GAA (0.6).

Lauren Moore is 19th in points per game (2.0), 17th in goals per game (0.867), 10th in goals (13) and 11th in points (30). Cici Gonzalez is 38th in points per game (1.73), 35th in goals per game (0.733), 20th in goals (11) and 22nd in points (26) and 12th in game-winning goals (4). Gabby Russo ranks 50th in assists per game (0.47) and 20th in assists (7) as Courtney Peffley is 34th in assists per game (0.53) and 13th in assists (8).

After opening the season at No. 8, UT has now been ranked in the top-25 for nine consecutive years, including a top-10 billing in the previous two. The Spartans have spent six weeks in 2012 in the national top-25, including the past four.

The Spartans play host to Nova Southeastern on Tuesday before a Saturday night affair at Florida Southern.
