Tampa Announces Plans For Midnight Madness

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa athletic marketing and student government will host its annual Midnight Madness event on Sunday, Oct. 14 from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.

Fans will have an opportunity to meet the 2012-13 UT men’s and women’s basketball teams, as there will also be a dunk contest, 3-point shootout and chances to win prizes.

American Idol finalist Michael Lynche will headline a list of performers, which also includes Brandon Loureiro, Branden Chase, Spanish Dance Team, Spartan Scarlets, Dance and Cheer, UT Blackout Dance and DJ Dayve.

Fans will also be able to try free samples from Spartan sponsors, including Frankies, Lee Roy Selmon’s, Pepsi, Beef O’Brady’s, Pizza Hut and 7-Eleven.

Midnight Madness is an annual event on college campuses that celebrates the first day in mid-October that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) permits formal basketball practices for each college basketball season.

This event is free and open to all UT students.
