Tampa Continues Top-10 Reign in Latest AVCA PollSeptember 17, 2012
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following a week off, the University of Tampa volleyball team is now No. 7 in the latest AVCA poll as the battle-tested Spartans have already met four nationally-ranked opponents.
The University of Nebraska in Kearney remains number one for the second consecutive week, garnering 24 first-place votes. Concordia St. Paul and Minnesota-Duluth make up the top-three as both also received first-place votes. Southwest Minnesota State and Washburn also comprise the top-five.
The Spartans represent the only conference program ranked in the top 25 as Lynn received votes. NCAA South Region foe West Florida comes in at No. 17 as Tuesday’s opponent Flagler is receiving votes.
Head coach Chris Catanach has coached his Spartan squad to 220 consecutive weeks in the top-25, marking the second-longest active streak in the nation.
Tampa returns to action on Tuesday against Flagler in St. Augustine, Fla., as the match is set for a 7 p.m., start.
