Reigning SSC Player of the Year Danielle Selkridge Takes Opening Award

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Tampa's Danielle Selkridge has been named the Sunshine State Conference Volleyball Offensive Players of the Week, presented by VALIC. The announcement was made by commissioner Jay Jones on Tuesday.

Selkridge, a senior middle hitter from Tortola, Virgin Islands, averaged 3.4 kills with a .485 attack percentage as the No. 3 Spartans opened the season 3-1 against a trio of teams that appeared in the AVCA's preseason national poll. Selkridge posted double-figure kills in three matches. She opened the season with 17 kills and four blocks in a four-set win over Lock Haven.

She then tallied 12 kills, nine blocks, and three digs in a five-set loss to No. 8 Indianapolis. Selkridge then came up big in a five-set win over No. 5 Central Missouri, notching 20 kills, four blocks, and three digs.

She rounded out the week with eight kills and a block in a three-set sweep over host West Florida. For the weekend, Selkridge averaged 1.06 blocks per set and was selected to the Hemingway's Island Grill All-Tournament Team.
