Several Tampa Soccer Players Earning Experience in Summer Leagues

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa has a number of current men’s soccer players who are currently competing with various summer league teams. In addition to Brian Fekete in the PDL, a total of six other Spartans are playing over the summer.

Fekete, a senior defender from Plant City, Fla., is with the GPS Portland Phoenix. The team is in the Northeast Division of the PDL. Currently, the Phoenix is in second place in the division with two games remaining in the season. The top two teams in each division advance to the playoffs. Fekete has logged over 1,000 minutes in 12 games. The defending division champions are looking to repeat in 2012 with Fekete as a defensive catalyst.

Also playing this summer in the PDL are Dominic Cutrofello (PDL) and Andrew Clare (PDL). Daniel Barboto is enjoying success with the Super Y League Super 20 team at Tampa Bay United, going to nationals. Also on that team are fellow Spartans Drew Buckley, Kody Parker and Gil Davis.
