Tampa Remains No. 1 in the Nation in New Poll

TAMPA, Fla. - Having played nine games so far this season, the No. 1 University of Tampa baseball team still holds the top rank in the nation according to College Baseball Lineup.

The Spartans have won every game they have played in 2012 while outscoring their opponents 59-17. Tampa is followed by St Mary’s and UNC Pembroke. St. Cloud State and Southern Connecticut make out the remaining teams in the top five.

UT jumped up from the fourth spot to the second in a poll by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. The Spartans are second only to defending national champions, the University of West Florida Argonauts.

Tampa has swept series against Bentley, Georgia, and Stillman Colleges, as well as winning a weekday game versus Southeastern University.

The Spartans will travel to Valdosta, Ga. this weekend for three region games. Tampa will have to withstand UWF, Delta and Valdosta State in order to remain undefeated.
