Cody Davis Inks Free Agent Deal With Washington Nationals

WASHINGTON – University of Tampa baseball player Cody Davis has agreed to a free agent contact with the Washington Nationals, and has reported to the organization’s minor league camp.

The outfielder and right-handed pitcher had one year of eligibility remaining with the Spartans, after playing in 20 games as a junior. At the plate, Davis hit .313 with two triples and eight RBI.

The Loxahatchee, Fla., native also made 12 appearances on the mound, compiling a 2.70 ERA with two saves. While going 1-1 on the season, Davis threw 16.2 innings while registering 15 strikeouts.

Davis played one season for the Spartans after attending Hillsborough Community College for two years. He was previously a graduate of Glades Day School.

He becomes the eighth Spartan to be drafted or sign with an MLB team following the 2011 Draft.
