
UT Plays Way Into National Rankings
March 10, 2010SKILLMAN, N.J. – The University of Tampa tennis team has earned its first national ranking of the 2010 season, coming in at No. 37 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II national poll.
The Spartans recently registered wins over preseason No. 28 Saint Leo University and Eckerd College to stand at 2-7 on the year.
Playing in one of the elite NCAA Division II conferences (Sunshine State), Tampa has already met seven national top-30 opponents and a top-five NAIA school (Embry-Riddle). Among the opponents UT has faced, two are in the top 10 and six appear in the top-25.
The Spartans return to action on Monday as it hosts No. 15 Florida Southern College in an SSC meeting. The meet is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the UT Tennis Complex.
